Thumbs down Red Battery Light on dash '05 TL w/90K miles

Yesterday i turned on my car (05 Acura TL 6 Speed, 90K) and turned on the A/C and when i was about to start driving i noticed the battery light on the dashboard was on. It has been really hot out here. Its been around 105 degrees all week, i doubt it is because of the heat but just wanted to let you know the scenario. i noticed this morning when i turned on the car with the A/C off it was making a squeaking noise. I was reading in the forum that the battery light turns on when the car is running on the battery, so in other words the alternator is not working properly, either because of the belt or other issues. I need help figuring out how to diagnose if its the belt or the alternator? or something else.
Thanks in advance.

first thing i would do is take the car or battery to a auto parts store and have the battery tested.

I just replaced the battery 4 months ago. Also i have had 2 bad battery's in this car and the battery light never came on before. Car still cranks up easily without a problem.

The diagnostic computer doesn't give me any codes. Also i turned on the car and checked the cables on the alternator and then i got a burning smell from the alternator.

Has anyone replaced their alternator here? is there a trick to getting the alternator out? do i need to remove the fans or something else so it can fit?

To replace the alternator I had to remove the passenger side fan shroud. To get the two screws of the fan shroud, you have to remove the splash guard under the fan. In order to remove the splash guard and access the drive at the bottom pulley, I removed the passenger side tire.
