Rearview mirror gone bad??

Is there a bulb or something in the rear view mirror. There used to be a light that came on that dimmed the lights of cars behind you, but now it doesn't come on. Do I have to replace the whole thing or just the bulb? Also, is there a screw that will tighten up the mirror since it is loose and shakes while I'm driving.

If the light is not illuminating, it is not getting any power. Check your fuses.

If your mirror is indeed busted, you have to replace the entire mirror.

There is a little rounded button on the bottom edge, towards the center, of the mirror that turns the auto-dimming on and off -- push it in and see if a green LED turns on. Sometimes that button can be accidentally pushed in while adjusting the mirror. If it's not the power button, then

G/L.

for the mirror shaking, there's a spring inside that is warped. This happened to a few 04's and the springs were redesigned quickly and replaced. There is a really old TSB on this, I had it done in about 2006...

Just be careful with our rear views. There was a disturbing thread in hear years back where a member's broke open. He started getting a bunch of strange symptoms that were unexplainable. He later found out (allegedly) that they use mercury inside the mirrors and it sprayed all over him and his interior when it broke open. He was wrapped up in a pretty big lawsuit.

I never get blinded but see no diff when I turn that stupid switch on or off at night...

I don't see much of a difference either, but I have 15% tint on rear window.

Well with it bouncing around it gets pretty annoying trying to look in the rear view mirror. I just thought it was a screw that could be tightened up really fast.
