Rearview camera not working

First, let me be clear...I own an '06 TL which does not come with the factory cameras of the updated TL's (07 and 08). I have Dom's navigation unit hacked into my system and a camera (Wendy's) from ebay.

Recently, whenever I put my car in reverse, the image would appear on the screen and then fade to white or black ... or it would appear white and then slowly fade on. Other times, it just would not show at all.

Is it just the camera going bad or could it be the convertor? I leaning more towards the camera. Any help would be great.

Camera

SlimTL, I don't have an answer for you, rather a question. I too have a 06TL/navi. been looking all over the forum for info on buying and intalling a backup camera with a toggle switch to switch on when not in reverse.

I see a lot of old posts, but nothing all in one place.

Any ideas?

tks

if you can, try plugging in the video camera into another source, or pluging a dvd player into the camera plug on dom's. This will help eliminate either as an issue. If the dvd does the same thing on the camera source, its dom's unit. If it doesn't, its the camera. If the camera does it on the tv, its the camera. If the camera doesn't fade in on the tv, then its dom's.
