I have an old 04 TL and has the check engine light one, i check with Autozone and they told me is code P0420 o2 sensor, and now my car goes out to limp home mode (2nd & 3rd shit 2.5k revs)

double check the code, I'm pretty sure the car should not be in limp mode for an O2 sensor. I drove for years without one in my other car.

well, if the code is for the 02 sensor....change the 02 sensor....

also, the catalytic converter could have gone bad

I was told by my mechanic that it the limp mode was caused by a thorttle fault and told me i need to replace it, but since theres no other code than P0420 i took it today to a speaciallist cheked my cat and been told that cat #2 the one from firewall need to be replaced but still my mechanic say that that is not the cause of my limp mode...

I'm confused... So the code happened first and you took it to your genius mechanic who did those 3 things and it didn't fix it?

well, limp mode is definatly not caused by the o2 sensor, it theres a fault in the throttle, i guess it has to do with the app sensor, and you should give that a go.

go to an acura or honda dealer so that they can diagnose it, ik its more expensive, but its easier and better and sometimes cheaper than having an inexperienced mechanic deal with it
