Rattling drive shaft heat shield

Does anyone have a picture of where the heat shield is that protects the intermediate drive shaft. The way it was explained to me is that it's the heat shield that protects the shaft going from the tranny to the driving tire. I think the shaft goes across the car left to right not front to back.

May also be know as drive shaft half shaft or cv intermediate shaft or cv shaft.

i can not upload the pic but i'll throw the url at the end of my post. I believe it is item number 19. I just need to be able to locate it when i am either under the car or under the hood haha

thanks

Yes, 19 is what you need to look for. It's towards the right side of the intermediate shaft towards the cv axle.

I just loosened the one bolt I can access (farthest bolt of the 3 towards the transmission) and tugged the heat-shield towards the drivers side and torqued to factory spec. Done.

Is this heat shield causing the rattling I'm hearing when my car is stationary but in gear (e.g. at a drive-through) but goes away when I put the car in Park or Neutral?

The dealership blamed the rattling on my exhaust mod.

For me this was a pinging noise under light acceleration.

There's a TSB for it, with pics, probable cause, etc.

Go to this page: https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-2004-2008-93/3g-tl-technical-service-bulletins-tsbs-3g-garage-j-016-a-613659/

Follow the instructions at the top of the first post then open TSB 07-026 (http://techinfo.honda.com/Rjanisis/pubs/SB/B07-026.PDF).

I wanna tackle this myself because I get the "whine" at at 1000-2500 rpms.

Before it goes on a hoist on Tuesday (I have access to a hoist everyday for free),
Will the dealership fix this for me for free? =P
