rattle and squeaking from tranny

I had a rattle and squeaking from somewhere under the car.. i thought it was the suspension, so i took it in to acura and they test drove it and found it was from the transmission. from further inspection they noticed that the transmission mounts were not securly bolted down.. the bolts were able to be taken off by hand twsiting them... so they properly torqued it and no more squeaks or rattle... kinda dangerous don't you think?

Nah, this is actually a feature.

If you are ever on the road and your transmission fails, you can grab another one at AutoZone or PepBoys and install it yourself without tools!

What did the rattle sound like, and under what conditions did it occur? I have a chirp/rattle in my car that I just noticed this week (it's warm enough to drive with the windows down, now). It seems to happen at about 2500 rpm and go away by 3000 rpm. I plan on taking it to the dealer next week.

Whoa - so that's what that noise is - I've noticed it recently in my car after I got it back from the dealer!

They did work on my engine mounts this past week so I will definitely have them re-torque the bolts to make sure they're tight.

It's very hard to hear so I haven't been able to pinpoint the location, but this might fit the bill. I have to say the sounds seems to come from the back of the car though. I'll have to pay more attention in the next few days.

I have similar problem

I dont hear much squeaks or rattle but I notice when i shift gear especially under hard acceleration the car would shake/vibrate right after it shifts to the next gear. And it seems like the tranmission mounts or the engine mounts is not doing it job. Did you have the same type of shake/vibe while changing gear?

yeah that does not inspire confidence in a product. Something else to think about when you are doing 90 on the interstate...

As always never share a foxhole with someone braver than you and always know that your weapon was made by the lowest bidder...

Same here.. you get what you pay for and no...no car is perfect, but the hits just keep on coming. It should be a simple process...

A design a tranny
B. test the hell out of it and give it to that dude who drives in all day traffic jams in the snow. Fix the issues...
C. mass produce it and make sure it is bolted in correctly..

They could do this by saying ok who was not shitfaced last night ok you bolt in trannies. Of course they forgot that s/he was probably high...

I can see the I love lucy candy factory scene right now as the TLs come rolling past ...

Thats comforting, a loose transmission. Are there any bolts that can be checked without putting the car on a lift?
