Radio keeps cutting out

I just bought a 2005 Acura TL without navigation. The radio cuts out with no audio pretty much every time I drive the car. The speakers work fine and the radio plays but it just cuts the audio out randomly. It could be 30 seconds to 20 minutes. No the radio display doesn't work. Can't change the channels or hear anything. I bought this from a non Acura dealership. Took it up there this morning and they couldn't go in the radio because they are not an Acura dealer and told me to go to an Acura dealership. I called one up and they told me that there is a $95 fee just to look at it. My warranty only covers the powertrain. Can anyone help please?

So after the music cuts out the display goes away too? Your comments aren't making too much sense to me..

So You have music anywhere from 30 seconds to 20 minutes, and then music cuts out, and so does the display? Or is it just the music that cuts out?

Did this happen when you test drove the vehicle as well??

It didn't happen during the test drive. The display will stay up there sometimes just frozen and sometimes it will go out. I'm thinking about buying a new stock cd player and installing it with the iPod adapter. I read that installing an aftermarket cd player will take away the subwoofer and center speaker.

Check your power connector for the radio- it might be loose causing this issue. I would suspect this if everything goes dead and then comes back. If it's only XM and not FM, then you have a different issue. Does it cut out when you hit a bump?

I have a similiar issue... radio cuts out randomly... notice it more when its cold out. however the display is fine...

when it happens i usually make the radio louder and it seems to cut back in again... but its annoying as hell.

No idea how to fix this.. might be a loose wire or something

Correction**... its just one speaker for me... passenger front

Sounds like your CD players gone bad. Does it make a "pop" noise when the sound dies? alot of people have had this particular problem on this forum. (mostly 04's and slowly creeping there way up the years)

Anyways, i think you are going to need a replacement headunit. check for a number on your cassette door (like 1tb0, 1tb1, 1tb2, 1tb3) and make sure that the replacement unit has the same number.

Edit: I just realized I commented on a several month old post thinking it was current. I blame motorcity

I'm having the same problem. It just started today. It doesn't matter if I''m listening to the radio or XM. I doesn't matter what I have the volume on. Every speaker cuts out for a split second then comes back. Very Annoying.

The car will also jump from the displaying the radio stations to the map. I also had trouble using the channel changer on my steering wheel so I know it's not the speakers. It's got to be the stereo unit.

Does anyone have an idea what's going on. I think it has something to do with the stereo itself.
