Radiator/Coolant Reservoir Problem!
So basically my 2005 TL has had an issue for about a year. My coolant level (from the reservoir tank) would rise and get low frequently. I have had to fill back up to the MAX several times. A few days ago it got really low, and I filled it up again...
Yesterday I was driving and noticed smoke coming from my hood (the needle didn't show my car over heating). When I opened the hood, I noticed there had been a pressure build up or something to cause the coolant to over flow or explode I guess...
looking like this...

Not only did this happen, but the reservoir tank was now topped off (over-flowing almost).
Today I was taking off from work and not even a few blocks away, my temp gauge began to rise.
When I checked I noticed the cap and hose from the reservoir tank to the radiator was broken...

Has anybody had a similar issue?
I think a temporary fix would obviously be to replace the caps and hose. But that still leaves me wondering what causes the coolant level to rise and drop, and what caused the burst or pressure build up?!

Dude, thanks a lot! I still haven't replaced the reservoir overflow plastic cap, but I looked at the radiator cap and it looked just like the picture from that thread! The plastic must be in the radiator some where. I replaced the radiator cap already. Now all there is to do is remove the radiator and try to get that piece out just foe piece of mind lol thanks again I couldn't find any threads on this!
