question about seats

I've been an acura owner for 6 years. Recently I traded my 3.2 CL type S for the 2008 TL type S. I'm thoroghly impressed with the car, with the exception of one thing.

I cannot seem to get comfortable in the seat. I have a back injury, so seating is rather important to me. I didn't have this issue in the CL, but the TL seat is not working out.

Are there alternative after-market seats that one can buy and install?

Is the regular TL seat more supportive?

Any thoughts would be most appreciated.

The TLS is supposed to more supportive and provide better hugging of the body. Where was you back injury and how do you have the seat set? I have my seat in a bucket somewhat, front up 90% of way, back (bottom) up about 50-60%, the rear of the seat with very little or no lumbar that it can support my shoulders comfortably. With this I have no pain in my back and i have a few minor injuries that can pain whe the seat isn't correctly set.

Most likely the type s seat is firmer in the butt which tranmits more jolts to your back.
I use a wedge pillow with sacral cutout- about 15-20 bucks in many stores, designed for office chairs works, great in cars too
With that in place, I can drive my 01 a lot longer with less pain- I am of the surgical repairs crowd, so I understand they need for the proper amount of cushioning and support.

Most aftermarket seats are going to be even more race inspired unless you get some super plushies- maybe recaro has some?

Another great thing is the CG-Lock
It attaches to the seat belt at the buckle- pull the lap belt tight and it stays there so you dont slide in the seat, or have to use a knee- foot- or leg to balance, and you dont have to grip the wheel.
under 50 bucks for lots of happiness and comfort supreme!

thanks for the comments. I've just looked at the recaro site, it looks promising.

the TLS has larger and more firmer side bolsters on the back and bottom of the seat. The seats are not harder, the suspension is though.

firmer/harder- to someone with a back problem its all the same, it aint comfortable

There are usually stores with recaros and other brands of seats with display models to sit in
check the real phone book

call recaro and describe your needs- they are experts

What about the side airbag that's part of the seat though? Not only will you no longer have impact protection, but the airbag light will remain on.
