Problems already.......

As some of you know I just picked up a 2004 TL 5AT on Friday and now the car has just barely over 50k/mi. Tonight on my way home I was merging onto the highway and hit the throttle, and the car shifted pretty hard from 2nd to 3rd then it happened. The check engine light started blinking and then came on.

I just did a lot of reading, and I was aware of the recall where Acura installed the 2nd gear jet kit (which was already preformed on the car). Right about now I'm pretty pissed considering I've only had posession of the car for three and a half days.

Car still drives fine, however I have noticed over the past couple of days that the tranny seems to wine at low speeds (mostly 1st and 2nd).

I plan on calling the dealer in the morning, and I know the warranty was extended to 52k, I just wanted to see if any or you have any insight as to what the problem might be.

I apologize if this thread is redundant, but I didn't see anything in the past threads where the CEL started blinking then came on solid.

Thanks guys.

Additionally, what fuse do I pull to reset the CEL? Is it the clock fuse like on my Accord?

OUCH, that sucks man! I would have the code read before I reset it. Go down to auto zone and ask them to use the CEL code reader. After you know what it is then you can use the same little machine they have to reset it. Don't let them tell you it won't reset the code, I've done it b4...some of those guys are kinda dumb. Let us know what happens

It's not the tranny. The PCM needs to be reprogrammed. I guess this was a pretty common problem, only with the 04's. When the car is gassed hard, the PCM inaccurately interprets sensor inputs and throws a couple codes indicating a random misfire. I reset the CEL and all is fine. Next time I'm in NH I'm going to take it to the stealer to have the PCM reflashed.

$40 fix with the family discount.
