Problem with defogging the windshield

Hi,

I live in Quebec City Canada and we just got our first snow storm... Driving to work this morning I had to keep the defroster \_/ on full time in order to keep the windshield and rear window from fogging.

Curiously, opening the side window just a bit helped ???

Can anyone who live in cold climate explain how to get rid of that problem ?

Thanks !

Yves

Hold your breath the whole way to work lol.

Was the AC accidentally turned off? It must run to defog the windows and it should come on automatically with the defroster.

I'd like to know this too.... I came from a Passat that never fogged up like this. And I have tried every combo on the system and used the manual inside & out ...

Try cleaning the windows, dirty windows always fog alot faster and more often then clean windows.

The condensor maybe bad or your windows could be dirty under the tint. Just a thought.

The compressor should run anytime the Defrost is on unless you manually turn it off. In my climate I can usually get away with tuning the comperssor off after it initially defogs but when I've taken the car to a colder climate, within 10 seconds of turning it off, the windshield started fogging up.

Im sorry but misread the post about always having the a/c on and only fogging when it is off. Moisture in the car can cause fogging when it is not removed via the A/C. Vinnier6 do you have any GOOD ideas as to what woudl cause this problem? Since that is what the poster is looking for and what I have tried to help them with.

Remember to turn OFF recirculation of air as that also caused fogging of windshields/windows.

Check that your heater/evaporator core housing drain tube is not blocked or frozen. Moisture or condensation could be getting trapped due to a blockage and being pumped up into the car through the vents.
