Power steering pump replacement recommendations

Long time lurker, first post.

So after experiencing the PS whine problem, doing a fluid replacement and replacing the o-ring, I'm still getting some whine.

I also went in and replaced idler and tensioner pulleys because of pulley noise at the same time. This was the first time I had pulled off the belt myself so I hadn't actually checked any of the pulleys before deciding to do this. I just figured I'd start with the cheapest and most likely (in my mind) fix.

Turns out that I'm getting noise from my power steering pump when the pulley turns. Sounds like bad bearings. It's my opinion that the pump should be replaced in order to fix both the whine and pulley rattle sound.

I'm not seeing much info on replacing the entire pump. No DIY or anything. I'm kind of noob without a DIY so I ask: Is replacing the PS pump a simple bolt on and plug in task or should I bring this into a shop and pay the extra labor cost to get it done right?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

So I looked it over and it seems pretty straight forward. 2 bolts mount the pump and don't seem too hard to get to. Fluid intake is the same as the o-ring replacement hose. Fluid exit is held by 2 bolts that are upward facing and easy to remove. The only thing I don't know how to do is remove the bolt that holds the pulley as turning the bolt just turns the pulley. Seems that one of the mounting bolts would be much easier to get to if the pulley could be removed first.

Go through the holes in the pulley. Rotate the pulley until you can pass a socket extension through. Or, just remove the pulley first. Stick something through the pulley to stop it from spinning while you undo the nut.

I'm use to using an impact to remove the pulley from the pump, once its out. But, using hand tools, it might be easier to at least loosen the nut while the PS pump is still on the motor.

Most threads are on the o-ring.

I am in the same position, think the entire pump needs to be replaced.

Has anyone found a good price? Didn't realize how expensive these units are. Thoughts on refurbished?

Thanks.

Great price! Are those OEM remanufactured or aftermarket?

i believe it is new aftermarket with a lifetime warranty. napa has some remanufactured ones for like 120, those might be oem, but only have like a two year warranty. i rather have the lifetime warranty.
