Power Steering pump problem
Power Steering pump problem
Hi everybody!
Car is: 2006 Acura TL, 5AT.
About 5-6 months ago I noticed that when I am trying to turn steering wheel left or right while standing, it is very hard to do like there is no power steering. My mechanic told me I need to replace power steering pump.
I know there is recall for power steering hose, and tomorrow I am calling my dealership to fix it. Do you know guys if my problem will be fixed by this recall, or I have to fix it for money? Does anybody experienced same problem?
Thanks a lot!

My 2004 TL with 95,000 on it is doing the exact same thing. Hard to turn the wheel at low speeds. I can still turn it, but the wife has trouble with it. The TSB was done on it from the previous owner. I have the new fluid on order and was going to do the Power Steering Fluid replacement DIY I found here next week. Hope it fixes the issue. If not then maybe it's time for a new pump when they do the 105K service. Will keep you guys posted next week.
I replaced my Power Steering Fluid and it did help quite a bit. Still notice an occasional slow speed steering issue here and there where it is hard to turn. But not as bad. And no noise so all in all the swapping from old to new on the PSF helped a bit. Still think down the road I will replace but as for now I am fine with it.
Im going thru the same issues... ARGG
Pretty much I replaced the fluid but no luck for me... Still hard.(Thats what she said)
Anyone tried the Durlast Steering Pump
Its do damn expensive for a new OEM pump ($400) Hmmm Not looking to keep the car long, so not sure to go with the one @ Auto zone for $120.
