Power Steering pump failure

Hey peoples, haven't been around in a while. Just dropped the car off last night to get the power steering pump replaced. Over the past few weeks I noticed that the car would make a loud whining noise; when the wheel was turned, would get louder. Hopefully they get the part by Monday. I am driving a 2007 RDX for a loaner...not bad. I did a search, I didn't see anyone complaining of the same issue. Hopefully its just an isolated incident.

I have the same exact problem. Is it the powering steering pump that is making that noise? With my car, it sounds horrible in the morning ( when car is cold ) and eventually goes away after some time. A friend of mine at local Honda dealership said a steering pump hose was leaking until the exhaust manifold ( and you should see the smoke it makes ) . But the noise is horrific. Good Luck with yours !

There wasn't any smoke. Just the noise. I will admit, I led them to the problem, as opposed to just saying there is a noise and letting them investigate. I really don't think they would have over looked it, its that loud. i should know more today. They said they would have the part today (Monday). Thanks

Had the same problem. Got it fixed under warrenty no problem.

My concern is how many problems is this car going to have when it is out of warrenty. My parents Ford Taurus never had as many problems as this 2-yr old TL!

Power steering pump failure- me too

Dropped mine off yesterday. The car is 2 years old and I figure it must be a defect since it seems that so many folks are having this problem. How many of you have the 18" wheels. I'm really starting to wonder if this car was engineered to handle this size wheel. I have the 6MT and it rides like crap compared to the same car with 17" wheels. I don't think its a coincidence that the Type S comes with 17" wheels either. Honda has probably learned the error of thier ways.

Found this recall, its for the fusebox which in turn affects the fuel pump
