Power Steering O-Ring fix? Vid included

I posted in the power steering whine fix thread but no replies .

I just got a 105k timing belt service and new power steering pump and have had this noise ever since. I am positive I have the same symptoms that is from the air getting in which the new orange O-ring will fix but a few things I'm not sure about.

Everyone said that the noise starts off when it is cold outside in the morning and then goes away. Well for me the noise is happening the whole time I'm driving (I am pretty sure, I just can't tell for sure since I hear the engine and radio above the sound).

Attached is a video I just took. You can hear the sound and also see bubbles in the fluid reservoir. Think the O-ring thing will fix this?

Thanks for the input

What did the dealership say?

Are all the hoses securely clamped and untwisted?! It's sucking air from somewhere...it could be that O-ring...

It was a while ago when you got that done, right? If there was any air in the system, it seems like it would have worked itself out by now.

DUDE, get that recall done soon!
if the power steering fluid leaks onto something hot, it can erupt into flames.

too bad no one understood my "spacecake" thread.

sorry, ian I cant view vids.
but, go ahead and replace the O-ring!

Easy fix.. go get a turkey baster or a siphon, and suck out the power steering fluid in the reservior all the way to the bottom of the screen and re-fill the fluid...it would fix it

Reason when you have air in the system.. air is trap beneath the screen and would not goes away..

Do this and report back.. it will work, I've done it for so many Honda/Acura..

Already contacted the dealership and I'm set for tomorrow at 10am. Will this recall also replace my O-ring or just the hose??

The issue is the high pressure hose, so they might not change the inlet hose. You can tell them to replace the o-ring while they are there.. members in the past have had the recall but Honda / Acura didn't replace the the inlet hose / o-ring. If they don't.. go to the DIY.

You're very lucky.. to the point of the hose leaking.. several engines have caught fire.

WELL, Majofo, just to let you know, my buddy and I replaced the o-ring. Only thing is, the new, orange o-ring was already on there. We replaced it anyways. We also added some power steering fluid.

I will drive a little more and check for the sound in the morning and if it is still there it is obviously something else that is causing air to get into the system.

My friend suggested draining the power steering fluid and refilling it to get the air out, what do you think about that if this doesn't work?

Ok after a few days, the sound is pretty much gone, especially when idling, and there are no bubbles in the reservoir. But it still makes a little noise when turning the wheel side to side. Maybe that is just the way it is and won't get any better? Any idea?

btw.. did you make sure you cleaned the inlet side. I wouldn't be surprised if remnants of the old o-ring are in there. The res has a screen to catch debris.. it won't hold air.. nor would it be the source of air entering the pump.

Shouldn't make any noise. If it still moans when you make a turn.. you might consider replacing the seal o-ring and the regulator o-ring. It might be described in swoosh's PS Pump overhaul thread.
