After changing Engine Oil, how long does it take for the oil to turn black (dirty)?

 

How "dirty"? Oil will turn significantly darker within 100 miles of driving.

 

 

The oil doesn't turn dark because it's "dirty". It changes colors due to the chemicals breaking down and what-not.

 

i thought it gets dark due to holding combustion by products in suspension. It's a sign that the detergent in the oil is working as it should.

hypothetically, having "clean" oil after 1000 miles is not a good sign.
