Please educate

Hello , I just recently purchased an 07 TL base with 99k on it. It's in real good shape however both side heated seats are inop. The light comes on but it's just not getting warm/hot. In addition, I was told to get an induction service and I wanted to know how beneficial would that be ? Also any maintenance tips please ?

As lights are working, I'd first check for current at the heaters.
Don't waste your money on the induction service, but follow the MID for all services, and add a brake fluid change every 2-3 years.
If the timing belt service hasn't been done, it will be needed @ the 105,000 mile mark along with new plugs, so save your money.

heating element are shot/gone. Cost for repair at dealership are $1500 + tax, its one of the task I will tackly myself this winter, part only cost about $350 for driver and passenger side.

Actually pretty easy if you have the time. Hardest part is removing all the wiring, brackets, bracing.

I'm thinking outside the box on this one, I'd consider that the dealer swapped out seats and forgot to plug them back up. Or the carpet was really nasty and the seats were removed to better clean the carpet, again with the connectors not being plugged back in.

Where did you purchase the car?

FYI

To keep the seat heaters from burning out, do no leave them on the high setting after the seat is warm/hot. Change the switch to the low setting.

The Hi setting is for warming a cold seat fast not for continuous use. That's what the low setting is for... continuous use.
