Plastic radiator area has dried coolant

The plastic radiator area near the cap/coolant reservoir has some dried up pasty stuff which looks like dried coolant. i can get a pic of it tomorrow but is it something i should be concerned of?

it doesn't look like there's a loss of coolant and the car doesn't seem to be dripping any to the floor. is it possible that the car's radiator or coolant reservoir overflowed?

make sure your cap is on correctly ...clean it off then check back to see if it happens again...you could have a very small hair-line crack.

If my coolant reservoir is constantly on the minimum level even after I added coolant, could I have a leakage somewhere? I don't physically see any fluid leaks on the ground so I can I check if I have a leakage somewhere? Thanks in advance.

I will look into cleaning it off and checking the radiator crack. I believe it's pretty tight on there already.

From what I recall, if the reservoir is minimum, there's nothing to be worried about because there is still plenty of coolant in the radiator system. I remember someone posting about that and saying that there are different factors and sometimes weather will even cause the coolant level to be sometimes higher or lower than normal. Don't quote me on that though.

Our top tank of the radiator is made of plastic, and can easily crack. Check around where the upper hose connects also around where the fans bolt to the rad. These are typical areas where cracks form. Good luck..

I used to have the same problem. Its from the hose connecting the radiator to the reservoir expanding under pressure. I zipped tied both ends and have not had a single drop since.

I had a similar issue when I bought my car recently from a dealer. There was dried coolant every where in the engine compartment. Checked my radiator cap and it was pretty old and it was loose. So I went to Advanced Auto Parts and got me a new cap and haven't had any leaking issues since then.

The radiator cap is the likely problem. Agree with previous post.
