Passsenger Mirror Assembly

Ouch! What a way to start the day....

I was backing out of the garage and did not notice how close I was to the garage door opening. I bent the passenger mirror assemble backward cracking the assembly edge as well as the plastic assembly that holds the mirror to the motor. Has anyone else been through this? Is it easiest to order a entire mirror assembly or can it be fixed? How easy is it to install the assembly? Any experiences/suggestions greatly appreciated.

Woot for minnesota!

I've changed a mirror out on my GF's 1997 Nissan Maxima. And if it's anything like that I would classify a mirror change out to be fairly easy.

The since you have a heated mirror, it's going to cost you a gold penny.

The price was cheaper than I thought it would be. I was expecting a LOT more. Looks like I can get one from the dealer tomorrow.

https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-2004-2008-93/how-remove-door-panel-687044/ - use this as a guide to remove the door panel

I can't verify since I've never removed the panel, but some cars you can access the 2-3 bolts that hold the mirror housing without removing the panel. You will have to inspect the area to confirm.

EDIT - FOUND THIS! https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-2004-2008-93/repairing-side-view-mirror-3g-garage-e-045-a-573130/

Just looked at the FSM...removing and replacing the mirror looks pretty easy...remove the interior panel, disconnect the wire connector, remove the 3 bolts. Done. Reverse to install.

My brain is fried from work so bear with me. I can't tell by your description exactly how it's broken. But I have a few images that may help future members.

Some of the mirror may be repairable without taking the mirror off. I can't remember the size of the Tbolt needed so if anyone can respond it would help this post.

This is an 07-08 mirror that's junk Cept for the housing and motor(which I used)

There are 3 Tbolts once you pop the mirror off and a clip that keep the mirror housings attached.

3 inside.

One under neath. This one looks like it may be accessed by just folding the mirror in. If I could get confirmation on the Tbolt size then I'd try it myself.

Pic of the clip. Located with bolt underneath.

Inside view of clip.

Exploded view once separated.

On a side note. If you pop off the mirror, and remove the motor. You can simply unclip the plugs from the motor and plug them into your new one.

Now someone plz get me the size of the Tbolt! I lost them while I moved lol.

The T-Bolt Size was T8. It's completely possible to do without removing the door panel. Trying to find some time to put together a DIY on it but pics above pretty much sum it up.
