Passenger window issue - switch related
Passenger window issue - switch related
I have searched and read all the threads on passenger window issues but I can't seem to find my issue.
At first I had the auto up would not work, then the window would not work with either switch.
I just tested the motor and it works fine.
If the passenger switch is bad, will the drivers side switch not work the motor as well??
I am going to order a new passenger switch but was wondering why the drivers side switch doesnt work?
Thanks, Paul

You may have a bad actuator, which is not uncommon. There are a number of threads on it, like https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-problems-fixes-114/f-179-diy-pass-door-lock-actuator-replacement-w-pics-764241/.
A faulty switch is much more rare.

If the motor works, but the driver and passenger switch will not operate the window I'm starting to think it could be something with the circuit wiring.
Did it just randomly start doing this?

Did you check the position of the main window switch on the driver's door just in front of the window switches?Do the rear windows roll down? If not, move the position of the main window switch and see if all the windows roll down.
If the rear windows work and passenger window does not...
I am having the beginnings of this problem. My auto up function on the passenger front window is not functional. When the front passenger window is down and I use the auto up function, the window rolls up about an inch and a half, and then rolls down immediately. This malfunction used to occur much later. What I mean by that is that the front passenger window used to roll up about half way, and then roll back down. Not its almost at the end of the windows roll down cycle. Any suggestions? I have tried to reset the switch, and it worked for a few months, now I am faced with the same problem.

I am not positive about the OP's problem but yours is the window regulator. It has a safety feature that makes the window go back down if something obstructs it like a child's hand. I had both of my front window regulators replaced under warranty. I could sometimes get them up if I didnt use auto up but if I used auto up it went almost all the way up then bounced back down. Also check to see if the window glass tracks are dirty. That will cause it too.
