Question Passenger Side Mirror Resets to Wrong Position

The passenger side mirror on my TL resets to the wrong position when I choose my driver profile (different from my wife's profile). When I unlock the car with my fob and open the door, everything moves to my preferred positions, but the right side mirror is always too low. Every time, I have to use the control to manually raise it up. Every time I then store the new setting. But, it never returns to my set position.

My guess is that the position sensor inside the mirror "thinks" it's in the correct position, though it isn't. Has anyone seen this or does anyone know what to check or test to track this down?

Thanks in advance.

does it make a grinding noise? The motor may be inside and causing the issue with it skipping.

Everything sounds normal. The only issue is the offset position.

Just set the mirror to the desired position, reset the mirror memory with the DPMS, then unlink/relink the remote fob.

How do I reset the mirror memory with the DPMS?

Everything moves to the correct position. The mirror moves, too, but not to the stored position. I'm not sure this reset will correct this, or if it's a hardware issue with the position sensor, but I'll give it a try.

Set the mirror to the desired position, then store the positions in memory using the memory (DPMS) buttons on the door.

Ah OK. I mentioned that is part of my process in the OP. I just didn't realize the official term for it.
