P1078 code- engine light

Hello,

I own a 2004 TL. It has got over 106k miles. My engine light came on. I recently got a P1078 code for the second time. I took it to the dealer and they were also surprised to see this code. They said they have to scoop around and see what's going on. Anyway, I took it to Autozone and got the diagnostic done. It said it has something to do with IMRC. After driving for some days, the engine light went away. I want to know if this is a major problem? My car runs fine BUT I get this jerk when I accelerate and then decelerate.

Can this code be related to this jerk issue? How much should it cost to get all of this fixed? What parts do I need?

Please help.

Thanks.

P1078 Intake Mainfold Runner Control (IMRC) System Malfunction (High rpm)

Jerking? Heavily to the point where it's bothersome? Any other issues such as power loss at high rpms?

The jerking is only at acceleration and deceleration and that not too intense. Now, the light has come back on again. No power loss at high rpm also. I just don't understand what to do. Damn dealer's telling me he'll charge me $115 to do the diagnostic. Is there any IMRC throttle valve that may need to be replaced?

Also, before P1078 code, I had a P0420 code. My catalytic converter(bank 1) was jacked up. I got that replaced (brand new OEM) and also the spark plugs (NGK Iridiums). Now, the car runs much much better and the fuel efficiency has also increased significantly. Could P0420 lead to P1078?

I apologize for opening an old thread, but same code came up for me this weekend.

Does anyone have any ideas on the fix or a link to the solution?
