From what I understand, the flash/update TSB is only for a 2007-2008 TL-s.

Did you have AutoZone erase the code? If so, did it come back? I've had this code pop up several times (along with P0174) on my wife's Isuzu Rodeo. Often times when you get either code and take it to the dealer or other repair facility, you will be told you need an O2 sensor. In reality, the O2 sensor may be just fine and something upstream is causeing the O2 sensor to report an abnormal condition. Example: in my wife' Rodeo, it was a loose coil pack on one of the spark plug tubes. Fixed that, erased the code...never came back again.

Maybe that's why the dealership wanted to keep the car overnight and run some actual tests? Sometimes things are cut and dry, sometimes things aren't. Trust me.

Does it have an aftermarket CAI? On some makes/models, people over-oil their air filters (like K&N) and it sprays oil onto the Mass Air Sensor. Car then thinks it's leaning out (and thus throws both codes together). Wash MAS with carb cleaner and let dry. 0171/0174 are common codes in late model Corvettes for this reason. No idea on TLs, but thought I throw it out there FWIW...

we dont have a MAF sensor, we have a MAP(manifold absolute pressure) sensor. basically it reads the pressure inside the intake manifold then calculate the density to determine the mass air flow(MAF) atleast im 90% sure. the MAP sensor doesnt get nearly as dirty as the MAF sensor because the MAP sensor isnt in the way of the air flow like the MAF sensor. so its pretty likely that is not the problem

edit: since its an 04 and u probably have around 80-90,000 miles its probably worth a shot

If my memory serves me right - this code was popping up on my Audi A4 (it would still run fine, but the code would come up) Quattro and troubleshot it to a dirty MAF. Cleaned it, ran fine for a long time, then popped up again - cleaned it - came back quicker.

Put a new MAF and it ran fine - actually much better (I think it was reading slightly off - resulting in a slightly richer mixture).

Came to the conclusion that once I diagnosed it, cleaned it, should have replaced it.

Yeah, definitely a stretch. Another possibility would be putting on a CAI and not sealing it up properly (e.g. vacuum leak) that adds extra air across the sensor.
