Ordering parts, not sure which I need, need some help various other questions

Hey guys, relatively new here so bare with me.

04 TL 104k AT

I'm ordering rear brake pads and rotors. Did a little research and I'm planning on ordering Centric posi-quiet extended wear pads and Centric High carbon poly blah blah rotors.

While I'm ordering parts from rockauto, I was going to order the "1st and 2nd gear shift solenoids" for the AT? I think thats what there called. I remember looking on this forum a few months back and everyone saying even if you don't have tranny issues to just replace those two things because they are cheap and easy to replace and will prevent/extend the life of the tranny. I already have done the 3x3 fluid change (used Amsoil because I can get a good deal on it and figured it should be nearly as good as the redline stuff). Tranny shifts perfectly normal btw.

SO should I replace those two things (whatever they are) or not?

Are those decent brake rotor/pad choices (pretty much a normal DD drive, just want them to last and be quiet)?

I also plan on doing spark plugs? OEM? Or what should I get? Air filter needs to be replaced also, OEM filter?

And lastly, my rear left tailight is going. Three of the top leds are burned out. Is this something I can take out and fix with new leds or replace the whole board? Do the leds just become unsoldered and can be fixed? I know i need to remove the bumper to get the tail light out (jeez).

If you have a link for where to get the leds, led board or spark plugs please include it.

Thanks for the input and help !

you can order your LED board from oemacuraparts.com, they sell all things oem and usually half the price of the dealer with just aditional for shipping. you can get the iridium(the type our cars use) spark plugs from autozone. not sure you need all that fance rotor and pad especially for the rear but buy to suit your needs. I use duralast pads (the top grade ones)from autozone and and i am happy with them plus u only have to pay for them once. and rotors i got from brakeperformance..idk about the other stuff

i wouldn't replace the pressure switches if your not having any trans issues. And your at 104k, have you done your timing belt/water pump service? If not, get on that asap

why not? its PREVENTIVE maintenance.

the fact that the solenoids/pressure switches do go out over time would warrant me to change them out.

You're going to die eventually, too. You're not shoving a shotgun in your mouth and pulling the trigger!

Wait that shit out! No need to spend money on that because it's an easy fix when it does break.

if you havent changed the pressure switches then you should.

why wait for it to "break" and possibly take your tranny with it?

He states his trans is shifting PERFECTLY FINE, thats like changing an o2 sensor before it burns out b/c it just MIGHT eventually foul out.. if it starts shifting poorly then change it. My advise..do what you want but I do advise a timing belt serving before any of that other stuff.

Timing belt change when MID calls for it, not prior or once again money spent too soon

Not necessarily; I am at 106 and my MID has not called for it. OP, do as you please, but I did change the pressure switches at 50k, will probably do it again in the near future, probably when I drain trans fluid...

Don't know of the brake pads and rotors, still running on the originals...

spark plugs I used NGK Iridium.

taillights, board needs to be replaced, don't think its repairable...

So the parts are called "pressure switches" ? Where can I get them? Are there different ones that I need?

What will the symptoms be when they are starting to go?

if they are going bad you will notice bad shifts usually between 3rd and 4th gear. i believe you can get them from acurapartswarehouse.com and the dealer.

Oh and what about the air filter? Just a standard one? I can get a Wix filter for $13, I know they usually make a good quality filter.

Ok good to know, mine definitely doesn't have any issues shifting into 3rd or 4th.

Id say if anything, the shifts from 1st to 2nd is a little firm but its always been that way so I'm assuming thats normal. And by firm I mean quick, almost manual like.

Thanks for the info !

Yup! you can always change the pressure switches, some people do it and some dont. it wont hurt it will only make it better! But i just see it as a as need basis, if its good to go then why fuck with it? Just do frequent fluid changes and that should drastically prolong the life of all transmission components. Just know your motor will likely outlast your trans lol.

Typically you will also experience a delay when shifting from P to D or R as well

You know, it does have a little delay when shifting from park to drive or reverse.
