From one set of error codes to another: O2 sensor

So I had been getting error codes: p0134, p2243, and p2251, and so replaced my bank 1 sensor 1 today. I haven't done a full drive cycle yet but it popped up with code p1172, but none of the previous so far (p0134 had popped up immediately upon reset and driving before I replaced the sensor). I'm wondering if there's a chance I somehow messed up and don't have it adequately tightened or connected, or if there is something else likely.

Anyone have any ideas?

So as an update, I got in and made sure the thing was adequately tightened today and will be jumping in and driving for a bit in a few minutes to see if it fixed the problem. My average MPG has been down a couple for a while, but I haven't noticed any performance problems. Since I replaced this part, however, I've had once or twice where the engine didn't idle smoothly, so I'm hoping that simply tightening it (I am not confident it was properly tightened before, though it still isn't specific torque tightened as I don't have that kind of wrench) will deal with that issue. If not, the part is either likely faulty (I got an off brand as my budget is pretty limited, though with further reading here in the forums, looks like this may have been a decently bad idea), but I'm in conversation with the seller so we'll see in that regard, otherwise it's just time to have a mechanic fix it.

I'm getting codes P2A00 and P1172 prior to this tightening. We'll see what remains shortly. If no codes...a full drive cycle and back to DEQ with me. If codes...we'll go from there...likely go to my mechanic.

For anyone who may need the info in the future, the replacement O2 sensor was indeed defective, and so I was sent a new one and we're all good.

Some months later, but wanted to update this issue as well. Screw anyone but Denso. I had two defective O2 sensors from the crap compatible manufacturer, just took longer for codes on the second one. Replaced both upstream sensors with Denso and have been doing fine ever since.

" Screw anyone but Denso " Good advice Algavin. When it comes to intricate parts, like sensors, I always prefer OEM. In the long term, the investment is worth the money! Thanks for the update.
