No Vtec???
No Vtec???
I just took my car to the dealer for the timing belt and water pump, and now i don't have vtec, no more vtec from 4900 rpm. What do you cause that ???? btw my car is 100% stock
Hows your oil level? There are several parameters the engine has to follow before vtec can engage. Is everything hooked up? Either way bring it back to the dealer and tell them to diagnose it. They did the job and it worked assumingly before you brang it to them.
my level of oil is perfect, i just change my oil 1 week ago, the vtec does'nt angage in any situation, i will bring back monday, but i want to know if is their fault before, because i don't want to pay for nothing

Get a intake and hit vtec....if u still dont hear/feel it, something is definately wrong...Im assuming u have a base TL, Im not sure how hard vtec kick in a base model..maybe its time for a Type-S! Good luck with your problem
Thats very unusual, never heard of anything like that..I would bring it straight back to the dealer asap and have them check it out.. I'd be hella mad if that happened to me..but at least u can still drive the car.
But you were able to tell before the Timing Belt & Water Pump right?
STOP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
dont reset anything!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
take it back in - they forgot to hook something back up--things happen
VTEC should be FELT when it engages as the valve timing and duration changes- (google or wiki vtec to see how it works) making the rushing air sound as it pulls more air-- in a tornadic action-- into the engine

The vtec wiring/components are back by the lower timing belt cover so it is possible something back there is unhappy.
I got this guy, I got my vtec right here.....wheres my vtec!!! F'n dealer forgot to connect my vtec!!!!
(play on the "wheres my NOS" from My New Honda if you haven't seen it go youtube it lol)
Anyways to the OP I would take it back and tell them to fix it.

When i test drove the TL-S and 08 Base, they both felt and sounded the same. And how are your guys saying they forgot the plug something in, isnt vtec something built in the motor, the engages on its own when over the certain rpm?
I dont think vtec should be that noticeable on a v6 motor. I get on mine a few times and it just has a slightly throatier tone but nothing that will slam you back in the seat. My H22 Accord on the other hand is a different story. You can feel and definitely hear when vtec engages. I dunno either way VTEC is an on/off system excluding ivtec and the hybrids. Still if you arent satisfied with the job bring it back to the dealer.
I also assume that you are saying there was a tooth missing on the belt.

VTEC spool valve is right on the bottom of the engine above the oil filter housing. The harness MUST have gotten HACKED by the tech who hacked in the timing belt into your car.
DEMAND to see the belt with a tooth missing. In my 8 years with Acura, and hundred of timing belts behind me.... I have NEVER seen a bad belt. I'll even go as far as saying I never seen one break on a J series motor.

I just had a timing belt/engine work done by the stealership a month ago and around 1300 miles ago, currently at 51,xxx miles. The car moves pretty well but I don't feel like how it used to. Maybe its just me? But how exactly will you know VTEC is supposed to be engaging???
just saw this thread after my reply, maybe this can help someone.

But as someone not as mechanically capable as some of you guys here, Will you really feel VTEC? I mean I know for the TL it's not as dramatic as other HONDA's 4cyl line. I understand you can hear the engine and feel the car pull and pull.
