Nut on Ichiba wheel spacer stripped

I called the company to find out the exact size socket needed, the girl barely spoke english and eventually told me 11/16. I've been using a 17mm which seemed to fit snug. The 11/16 was definitely loose so I stuck with the 17mm.

Now I have this problem... any ideas?

worst case scenario:

buy a cheap socket that would just fit (on the too small side) and hammer it onto the nut, then wrench it off.

when hammering away mind your wheel bearing.

Dude...this happened to me...went to Sears and they have a set of sockets to remove stripped bolts...it worked on one of mine, but on the other side a few months later I put the spacer on with an impact wrench and it ended up tightening it to the point that even with the nut remover, it kept stripping...I'll end up cutting off the stud or try to carefully cut off the nut. But will require some patience.

Torque down to spec at 80 ft/lb. Don't push it. Needless to say, my spacers are now a part of my car...

Go for the small size you need in an impact socket.

just fyi also, not directed to the OP necessarily, but use 6 pt sockets when possible esp. working with cars.

I picked up a set of Irwin stripped nut removers today, hopefully this works.

I don't see where this would be so aweful.

Unless you an absolute wheel whore like bforbrian or cccolts.

Not awful at all...I'm ok with it...it just forced me to finally figure out the fender rolling and camber and making it work. I'll deal with it if I ever need to remove them.

Happened to me on 15mm spacers. The nuts are really shallow and not much to bite on. I have a stripped lug nut removal tool, and bc the nut was so shallow, this didn't work. Ended up air hammering, and angle grinding it off. Of course ruining the spacer in the meantime. Best of luck to u! Hope ur case turns out better than mine.

I ended up not using those thin bolts because I was afraid that would happen. I had enough room to use a regular open ended lug nut.
