New brakes, new problems

Just had my brakes replaced by a place that my car-knowledgeable friend swears by. First, the brakes squeaked an unusual amount -- took them back, they found a crack in the brand new pad, and replaced them with new ones.

Now though, I'm having trouble where when I'm braking at high speeds (70-80 mph), there is a kind of chatter/vibration in the steering. Then, at low speed braking, I notice a kind of on-off feeling where the brakes don't seem to be engaging properly. It's almost as if the ABS are activated at all times, but much slower.

After searching a few posts here though, it sounds possible that the new rotors could be warped, or more likely that they need to be properly "bedded."

I was just going to take it back to the shop, but i'll give this a try and see how it goes, but thought I'd post for additional ideas.

Read this and it will explain the proper "beddin in" procedure and the myth of "warped rotors". You will have to bed them yourself, i doubt the shop will.

If I am not mistaken, you can do it anytime. Follow instructions to the "T".
