NAVI/Trunk button question....

Sup all,

Been a TL owner for a while now and got a couple questions.

How often do I need to upgrade the Navigation software and how much does it cost?

Inside trunk button does not work. I have tried the switch in the glove compartment and that is not the problem. Is it some type of actuator or fuse problem?

Thanks in advance.

Button in the glove compartment? Didn't know there was one for the trunk there, it should be below the rear view mirror switches. Navigation disk can be updated whenever you feel you need to. I updated my original 04' disk last year for the first time. The navi update runs about $150 if I am not mistaken. If you catch it on sale I think it's $100 or so, can't remember other than to say it's not cheap. Could always find a newer disk on Ebay, just make sure the disk is the same color.

The navi software is updated when you buy and install a new Navi DVD in the trunk drive-- you can change it as little or as frequently as you want, but the DVDs are put out in 6 month increments. Mine was last updated in 2009, so I should probably get a new DVD.
I think the Navi DVDs are $99 right now (through July?) from Navteq; normal price is $149.

With the trunk button, you may want to feel around or pull the button down to see if it's plugged in. The fuse panel diagrams are in the manual and on the fusebox covers themselves, but IDK if the trunk button is on its own fuse.

IMO, it's best to check continuity at the glovebox switch, and to see if the glovebox switch is plugged in-- the switch is normally unplugged to remove the glove box to change the cabin filter, so someone could have forgotten to reconnect it when changing the filter.

Welcome to AZ.

I would try what was said here, that would be my first place to look. Could have been in lock position when unplugged locking the trunk button out of functioning.

Let us know if that was the problem. If you need help with removing glove box, look on youtube for a video. very helpful and easy to follow!!!

^ditto. Also, if someone changed the cabin filter and forgot to plug the connector back into the MAIN switch, I imagine it also wouldn't work.
