nav screen dim when car is cold?

Hey all,
Damn cold weather. I have noticed that my nav screen is dim when I first power it up for the day on these cold days...is this normal?? Once the car warms up and I get the heat going all is well.

Mine does it as well. Also does it after you turn the headlights off and it comes out of night mode.

Sweetness. I am glad all is well with my nav screen lol. It is one of my favorite parts of the car I don't want it to break!

It has to do with the CFL bulbs. They are notorious for not working well in cold environments. Has to do something with the mercury in the cathode. The currently do make Cold Cathode CFL's which use alot less mercury. While typical CFL's heat up to emit electrons, Cold cathode CFLs use higher voltages to emit them. Higher voltages translate into slightly higher power usage.

what were we talking about again...?

Mine is as well. Flickers in the morning a little bit but then goes away once fully warmed.
