My transmission went out today

So I was driving pass an intersection and the car would not move anymore. I step on the gas and the engine just rev up. I was able to pull the car into a parking lot and after 20+ tries the car responded and went into gear.

What options do I have? I did the 3x drain and fill with 3rd pressure switch before.

thanks

isnt this a known issue? Would acura dealers fix it ?

update: I just went back to the park where the park where the car was parked and drove it home about 3 miles fine. Drove home mostly on manual in first and second gear only. Seem to be normal.

I think next thing ill do is check with odb scanner tomorrow since I did see an engine symbol.

If it revved in gear but didn't move at all, it's just as likely to be fluid, especially if no trans codes (blinking D light) didn't pop up.
By chance were you turning at that intersection? That might be indicative of low fluid.

Or try to clean your transmission solenoids and the valves to see if that helps also. The valves may be clogged and is not allowing the right amount of fluid through them.

I brought some acura ATF and did a flush of 4 bottles at the shop down the block from me. (labor cost $20). Drove the car around the block and it still slip out of gear in 3rd and 4th. I manage to get back to my house after being stuck in an alley way for 20 min trying to get the car back into gear. Its been parked ever since.

Any suggestion on what I should do? Got a quote to have it tranny rebuild for $1500 with 1 year warranty.

Also I got a engine symbol on my dashboard. Autel OBD scanner picked up a reading but did not give me a code. I see this NTI/A 01/01. Should I try a different scanner?

That's not the code, you need to read the DTC, should be one more menu selection

I'm a little confused here, do you have a manual trans or auto?
If you have an auto, it's likely to have incurred more damage by doing a flush.
4 bottles is only enough to dump the sump in the torque converter.

The only good news if it's an auto, 3rd and 4th are more likely to be a sensor / accumulator than mechanical damage.
Get back to us on trans type and code.

Sounds like it needs a trans or rebuild to me. Smell the fluid, it's probably burnt.

sorry for the confusion but I did a drain and fill not a flush (4 bottles). I did change the 3rd and 4th switch couple years back with a 3x drain and fill with redline ATF.

where are you from? i can recommend a solid transmission shop in SOCAL if youre close by. they rebuilt mine 2 years ago..but of course they checked to see if that was the problem before they went ahead and did it. comes with 40k mile warranty no limit on years, complimentary drain and refill at 40k.

How much did you pay? I went ahead and dropped it off at my dad auto repair shop for $1500. came with 1 year warranty.

I just got the car back and notice some shutter around 30mph and the D was blinking. Going to bring the car back in tomorrow to have them check it out. may

Gotta say that's some cheap pricing! Was that with a transmission removal/installation? My tranny went, just free rev'd when it went to shift down to pass, and due to prices on reman, being over 2000 Canadian before labor I opted for another used, got it for like $400 lol. I swapped it My self as I worked at a auto shop, sure wasn't fun! Took me a better bit of 20 hours.
