MRP or Redondo Red? Base Model 07’ TL

Hello All,

I find myself here today because I have been absolutely driving myself crazy with this and I am desperately seeking an answer. I am the owner of a 2007 Base TL. The issue I am having is that although my paint code on my door seal shows R258P (MRP), I get a feeling it is not. Visually, I get the feeling that this is actually the Redondo Red Pearl that was discontinued before 07 and was only available on the 04-06 models. Except, how would that be possible if my paint code shows the MRP code? The following bullet points describe the research I have done and what I believe, please do feel free to correct me on anything I may have messed up on. Any help is needed.
  • Although my research shows that MRP was indeed offered as a red option for 07-08 Base models, every image I can find of a MRP is a Type S on waffles. I found maybe one imagine of a claimed Base MRP, but it was nothing more than that.
  • Possible that the whole car was repainted to Redondo Red? I know the car had some prior damage, but could it have been enough to push the owner to say “You know what, let’s just repaint the whole car” as he repaints it to the previous red? Maybe he didn’t know the differences.
  • The door seal shows R258P. This should be all the proof that I need to comfortably sleep at night, but I just cant get behind it. The car visually just doesn’t look as vibrant and as light as every other MRP I see. Maybe I just need a good paint correction and some nice polish work. But even then, the paint undoubtedly looks like it has a maroon aspect to it rather than a pearl red.

Attached are photos that I have gathered from my camera roll in several different lightings. I understand it truly isn’t a big issue, but I have a ton of parts and plans lined up for this spring and these paint codes really need to match up. Thank you in advance to anyone!

(P.S. Dont worry, I have a Type S grill sitting in my garage waiting for the weather to be nice to us)
