Motor Mounts Again

I have a '06 TL that has a vibration that can be felt through the steering wheel. This seems to be most noticeable in the winter time. I had the dealer check out the problem last winter and was told that it was common on the TL's. I have read here that a broken motor mount or motor mounts that are out of adjustment may be the problem. Can someone give my some more information on this so that I will know what I am talking about when I go back to the dealer?

As I have stated in another post, my dealer is reluctant to fix issues under warranty. He prefers to do oil changes and scheduled maintenance services.

Thanks,
Mike

How cold is it in your area? This has been discussed and it seems that some members experience a little more vibration on a cold start in cold temps. One theory is the mounts constrict in cold temps but as you start driving the mounts come to a working temp, become more pliable and returns to rated specs.

After starting the car and letting the engine run, try driving for a few minutes. Then stop the car and put it in neutral. Shift from N - D and N - R and try to determine if there is excessive jerking.. also while in drive does the vibration still noticeable in idle after the engine compartment has warmed up.

If anything.. wait until spring when the weather warms up. I'm assuming you will still be warrantied at that time. Since you said you noticed this last winter and had it checked did you notice the problem in the summer as well? If so then you probably do have a motor mount issue.
