It might be the bearings.....

OK, when I am driving backwards and have the wheel turned to one side or the other, it sounds like I'm driving over gravel.

And yes, it's only when I'm going in reverse and the wheels are turned.

What do you think?

Dump that rust-bucket.

You're sure it's not the 'air in the PS line' noise? More of whine or screech.

Regardless, not sure why it'd be only in reverse.

Yea, it was strange that it was only while in reverse...

Yea, this sounded like I was driving over gravel-that's why I thought it was the bearings. It was almost like there were rocks in a hubcap.

Definitely sounds like wheel bearings...I had a Civic back in the early 90s that did the same thing. It was the bearings.

If not the bearings I'd suggest CV boots.

If you have time to check,I'd lift up the car, check for individual wheel play or noise coming if you spin the wheel any way.
Check the splash sheld (behind the rotor) just in case there is any debris. Don't go spending money if it is something you can fix with just some proper inspection.

Have you done any work to the brakes lately or around the wheel/s?? If yes, then you might want to make sure that the brake shield isn't rubbing against the rotor or that the inner fender if it's hanging down. Idk, but why would the bearings only sound when in reverse?? I would think they would make some kind of sound regardless.

FYI:
wheel bearings would make noise in both directions, not just in reverse.

UPDATE:

I took my Type S into Jay Wolfe Acura today. They looked at this situation and determined that it was possibly a loose wheel spacer.

They tightened down all wheel spacers and we'll see what happens.

I also had to replace a foglight housing on the driver's side. The clear lens was broken and cracked due to road construction and repaving.
