sounds like its coming from under the car somewhere near the middle. wondering if it could possibly be that its time to change the 3rd and 4th gear pressure switches (i know where they are, its also possible the sound is so loud i cant tell exactly where it is)

Some TL do this louder than others but they all do it. Pressure switches have nothing to do with it. I was advised by a honda service rep for 20+ years in my family that this is absolutely normal.
Mine is pretty loud too, even louder in an incline.

Same thing here... That is when your hand brake comes in handy. Get used to it

It's the reverse fork in the transmission. When you shift in R, a fork comes up, or down i'm not sure, to disengage the transmission. If you hear a pop when going into reverse on a level ground, it means there is not enough pressure applied to that fork and it rubs again some other component. This is normal that it happens on a hill as the gears are subjected to extra pressure (unless you put the hand brake hard enough before going into P) but when it happens on a level ground, it means the linear valve or solenoid in the transmission could be clogged and not pushing enough oil to move the fork. (I'm just trying to repeat what the mechanic told me a few months back, I might have some specifics wrong but the general principal is pretty much that)
Had my transmission rebuilt about a year ago and the acura dealer mentionned that if you have that pop sound it means the person that rebuilt the tranny didnt change the linear valves and/or solenoids, which is a must when rebuilding a transmission.
