Question steering wheel emblem

hey guys, does anyone know how (or if for that matter) the emblem can be removed from the center of the steering wheel? mines has almost half the chrome rubbed off (presumably by the previous owner using some sort of cleaner)

i'd ideally like to replace or paint it (metallic/anodized red (its a type-s) since chrome would be near impossible to replicate

thanks, any input is appreciated

Use some chapstick/vaseline to mask off the rest of the airbag and go to town with primer and paint. It's not removable.

Actually it is removable, but it is more trouble than its worth, but if you are up to the challenge:

1. Remove the steering wheel (see instructions)
2. Remove bolts and pry out the cover attach to the airbag
3. The emblem is glued onto the cover; you will need a pointed soldering iron

I agree with csmeance; its better to mask it up, prime, paint, and clear coat it.

I tried painting mine, its just such a bitch because it keeps dripping. It would have been so much easier If you could lay the damn thing flat
