LED turn signals do NOT work in my car....HELP

Hello,

I am going through my 10th pair of LED bulbs for the front turn signals.....no pair EVER works for me. I am thinking my car has a internal problem or something.

The only reason I got my headlights cleared was because I wanted the white LEDs up front....

First I got 2 7443 40 SMT LED bulbs.....the left side worked, it turned on and you can see it and it blinked, the right side ONLY blinked but did not turn on. The company sent me about 6 more pairs and I had the SAME issue or sometimes my turn signal arrow would be lit and I would NOT be able to USE any blinkers.

Next I tried VLED Amber bulbs....now neither worked, same problems, turn signal lit, could not do anything. I went through 3 pairs.

I ordered some 7443 WHITE 68 SMT LEDS last week got them this weekend. I tried them a min ago, SAME DAMN PROBLEMS. Either one works, none work, or both work but they don't light up....they just blink when they work. Each bulb has been tested on the battery and they all blink/work. I even test the fronts in the rear turn signal and they always work. Anyone have ANY idea whats wrong with my car?

OH and if I have one LED blinker installed and ONE halogen installed....my taillights/sidemarkers/license plate lights ALL BLINK like TURN SIGNALS. WTF. I made a video to show you this nonsense.

Any idea whats wrong? Sometimes the LED bulb is physically smoking when I try to make it light....but its fine...just smokes.

Halogen bulbs work fine.

Forgot to mention...tried the VLEDS that did NOT work in my car in my friends TL and they worked in his. Anyone have any idea what could be wrong? Ready to drive this thing into a tree.

You might have to drive it into a tree or electrical troubleshoot. I'd personally drive it into a tree.

In all seriousness, you will probably have to switch back to the halogens or troubleshoot your problem.

Or relay mod performed? I just did eBay switchbacks over the weekend and did the .12 ohm resistor. Everything worked perfectly first try.

Then again, even if resistors or relay mod wasn't done, wouldn't the only issue be hyper flashing?

No resistors installed yet. I actually got some "PnP" 7443 resistors...no soldering or tapping required. All you do is plug in the bulb into a new socket...you plug the resistor which has a plug and play plug into the OEM plug...and you are done. SAME issues.

The video uploaded, here it is.

Just kidding about the driving into tree problem, but very upset about the whole issue. I want LED/HID everything up front and the ugly pale halogens ruin the look. With my luck....it could be possible I got 10 BAD PAIRS LOL.

Maybe the plug and play resistors are the cause of your problem? I generally don't trust things like that

I don't think so, I got them today. I have had this issue for a while. I tried with and without resistors and I am getting the same problems.

I am baffled by this. I guess LEDS and my car don't go together. I don't understand why they "smoke" either....lol.

Are the tailights blinking with the hazards? should they be?

standard halogens work fine? probably something in the wiring, hope you get it fixed

"smoke". any moisture in the sockets (ever been wet or in an accident)?
If they are smoking I would be cautious about running the led's

Yes, for some reason my taillights, sidemarkers and license plate lights were blinking. Halogen bulbs work fine.

You are having the same problem as me. Yours just seem worse than mine and not everyone sees this problem. It took me a very long time to figure out my problem. I have learned that the LED bulbs in the front are not designed 100% correctly. There is a feedback problem that requires a diode to be placed in the circuit. Sent you a PM

I seriously Think ur Problem is maybe ur Setup LMAO I've never seen the TL with all those blinking lights. In my TL the only lights that blink are the Front and Rear Turns and the Rear View mirror on the doors also blinks. But Break Lights don't Blink nor do my Side Markers. Ive had Ebay LEDs on my Tail lights and Headlights for the Longest and never had a problem besides the Resistors so that they blink normal.

This is a video of my crazy lights. Like i said, what is causing my problem is a voltage feedback issue due to the design of the LED bulbs. It starts of with just parking lights on, then i turn them off and turn on the emergency flasher. You can see that the flashing starts inside the car then after a moment it stops inside and starts back outside. Once i open my door it goes back to the inside.

This is a photo of what i did to resolve the problem, I took a diode from one LED bulb and put it into the other LED bulb for testing and it fixed my issue.

The LED bulbs use a common anode and common cathode for both the parking lights and turn signals.

This isnt the exact same issue like we discussed, but it does have a lot of simularities and due to the different model the problem caused by the bulbs could be different.

Thanks for the pictures and video Robert! Good talking to you on the phone. I just wanted to post some details that I did not think of on the phone.

When I had Halogen bulb in left headlight and LED bulb in right headlight...that is when my all my lights would flash like CRAZY. When I had LEDS in both headlights....everything would flash like normal...but they would NOT light up in parking light mode.....they would only flash...behaving like a 7440 bulb.

Somewhere in between I would have the left or right arrow lit when the headlights were on.....very random. I searched online and see very few people having these issues and usually there are no resolutions.

I was fixing this in light rain....moisture got in my right headlight and now it fogged up D:. Not fun stuff lol.

Tomorrow I am going to disconnect all my LEDS/Bulbs and try to see if they work....could be a short somewhere. All my lights have been modified so its not going to be easy.

Check all the grounds?

I did a quick search on this and it seems to be related to a bad ground.

Possible, but if it was ground issue, why do halogen signals work?

any update? Also its kind of hard to blame a bad ground since the lighting all uses different ground points throughout the car. Unless you are blaming the whole car as being a bad ground

Yes. I made several videos but too big for youtube. Just discovered something ODD.

So I plug in both bulbs....they work fine FOR FLASHING....they do NOT light up with headlights or parking lights...they just flash.

So I was fooling around and removed my rear turn signals bulbs....low and behold...now with the headlights on the turn signal arrows are lit and the bulbs are 1/3 lit. They do NOT flash now but light up 1/3 with headlights/parking lights.

I turn headlights off....they flash.

Plug back in the rear turn signals....they flash but do not light up and the arrow is NO LONGER LIT.

I also switched the prongs around and the bulb was lit fully when I plugged it in....it was not flashing.

I am lost at what to do.

i have an 02 tl and seem to be having the same issues. im hoping a resistor will do the trick as the 02 is simpler with less turn signal lights.
