keylock malfunction?
Sometimes it won't lock my doors either via the fob or pressing the switch from inside the car. It's done it three times now. You have to go around and manually lock each door. It's weird because the unlock still works from the switch and the fob (trunk works too). This is on a '04 with 43k miles. Anyone else seen this?

keylock malfunction?
Hello hodgear,
Did you have any luck in locating the source of your lock problem? Our 04 TL is at 41K so it's closing in on your mileage.
Well, if you haven't taken it to the dealer yet, you might want to... the 04 service manual indicates that your MCIU (Multiplex Inigrated Control Unit) may be the problem as all the door and trunk lock functions are controlled from it. That or a possible short in a dozen or so switches.
Good luck and let us know if you get it resolved!

Those damn Multiplex Inigrated Control Units. No it is not resolved but it also started working again. I plan on scheduling maintenance this week. It's weird because it happened once and then started working again that day. It did that two more times and then stopped working for a week. Now I've gone another week with it working fine. So I was affraid to take it in and have them say nothing is wrong.

Similar issue with my wife's 07 TL S. Last night it would not lock with the fob but could lock with the look switch on the door panel. Noticed when I started the car that the car was convinced the right rear door was open and displayed this in the driver info center. Dealer rep came and took the car away today, dropped off a loaner, and went on his way to replace the right rear door jamb switch... I think. At least that is what I think the problem was but they have not yet checked the entire car.
If your no lock situation appears again, look to see if your door ajar indicator is on with the car started but in park. This may be the case, could be intermittent until the switch craps out completely.
Good Luck.

I know this is an old post, but I'm having the same problem with my recently purchased 04 TL (i.e. doors don't lock through FOB or switch from inside car and I have to manually lock all 4 doors). Has anybody else had this problem? If so, what was the result? Thanks.

Like stated above, it is most likely the Multiplex unit, or the driver door lock acutuatior that has failed, the driver door lock control the rest of the locks, when you push down to lock it, it should lock the rest of the doors as well. Take it to a dealer and have them replace it.

Just an update.
Turns out it wasn't the actuator because the lock function stopped working a week after the actuator was replaced. Went again to the dealer to report the problem and they said they would order me a multiplex.
Just got my car back today from the service thinking that they had put in a new multiplex, but I read on the invoice that they simply reset the settings on the multiplex and that they would order a new part if the problem persisted.
