jerk going from "P" to "D"?

hello

does anyone's car give this jerk going from "P" to "D"? i guess you won't feel it if you press down on the brake really hard...but if you just press lightly on the brake and switch gears and just let it go but don't gas it.....the car kinda jerks a little before you take off......

is this normal?

i know many people who like just put it in reverse and without stopping completely they switch to D and just drive off....does that have any effect on the transmission?

thanks

TL has a preventive feature and won't shift from R to D or vice versa above certain speed. I belive it's 5MPH and it's in manual. I feel a bit of shift shock time to time on my AT

I've experienced the jerk in other automatic cars. It also more likely right after starting the car, since the engine is idling a bit higher to warm up. As you said, just hold the brakes firmly to prevent it.

D to R while rolling is fine too. Howstuffworks.com has a few articles on transmissions that you may find interesting, and one artlcle mentions what happens when switching into R while moving forward.

I have exactly the same problem, they work for few months now on it, next week they are going to change the O2 sensor, they say when the engine is hot the reading is false and it makes the car almost stall when you floor it.

I will see the result of this. ALthough the problem makes me feel of a tranny problem, when it's cold or you don't change or your AT don't change a lot the gears it's ok, but on hard driving or town driving the problem appear again. Glad not to be alone. Honda say it's not normal, they tested it and recognised the problem.

It's start sometimes like a basic Honda civic, i'm afraid to race them now.
