Intermittent Headlight - Ballast or Ignitor
Intermittent Headlight - Ballast or Ignitor
I searched the garage. I also searched the board and was overwhelmed by upgrade threads. My apologies if I missed on either.
Anyway, my RF low beam went out. Replaced the bulb. It worked intermittently. Replaced it again. Same deal.
The light will come on when the car is off. If you then try to turn the car on, it will go off. If the car is already on, then the light will come on about 20% of the time, but it goes off soon after.
I am thinking ballast. Once the light it lit, isn't the ignitor out of the picture?
Thoughts before I take the front off of the car?
TIA

bump, I have the same issue. I blacked out my headlights and didn't seal the right one as well and it has a lot of condensation after a bad storm, then my low beam went out. After I dried it out in the sun the next day, it would come on, but goes off after about 1 minute of driving. So annoying that we can't turn just our fogs on, because I replaced those with an HID kit. So now I have a popeye and two scattered HID beams. Just want to make sure I don't need to spend $150 for a ballast and ignitor if all I need is an ignitor for $50.
remove the igniter from the bulb and check the contact poins inside the igniter. if they look burnt then its gonna be your igniter. i see it alot where they get burnt and cause the same issue your talking about
