Interior Seat Staining 06 TL

I have a 2006 TL with the light leather (beige) interior. I had it protected at the dealer with the perma plate system but am finding that blue jeans still have started to stain the seats (seems to be a commn problem as i have seen many used one with issue). I have worked with every cleaning company the protectant company and the dealer have sent out and the stains remain and continue to get darker. The solution I have been given is to replace the leather (on Perma Plates dime) but that seems to be a stupid solution since the next seat would just stain again. Has anyone had the same issue and if so is there a cleaning method anyone out ther recomends?????

Are you sure it's a stain on the leather, and not the beige dye coming off of the seat? I ask b/c I had a fading leather seat issue. Got the whole thing replaced by the dealer under warranty.

As for cleaning my leather, I use Meguiar's cleaner/conditioner. Never had to deal with clothing dye staining the seating. Good luck!

I've been meaning to ask this question as well. I have light grey leather and it is showing everything. Have tried several cleaners/conditioners including Mdguiars, and they don't do anything for cleaning.
a couple of weeks ago I tried windex after cleaning my windows and they cleaned right up ... wow. I immediately put on conditioner just in case it was drying or bad for the leather.
has anyone else tried this? Any other recommendations?

I came across this old remedy for a stain on my leather sofa a few years back, and it was AMAZING!!! Peanut Butter... rub it on, let it soak, rub it off. Never would have believed it if I hadn't done it myself

windex is BAD, it has ammonia in it and by using it you are asking to put your leather in trouble!

Easiest solution is to mix water and woolite , 5:1 ratio and then clean the seats with it. This is fine for the leather and will get it nice and clean. If you want to get it even cleaner and looking like it just came from the factory, the best bet is to use the leatherique system, I used it after having 65K on the TL and my seats look nearly brand new!

Thanks for the feedback everyone. So far every commercial cleaner has failed but I am willing to try anything at this point. The Woolight and water sounds easy enough to try, not sure about the peanut butter though...heated seats may create an interesting smell if it gets into the perforated areas.

Yep, definitly staining from Jeans. Besides my TL I have an 04 TSX that I purchased used, similar color interior and there is no question that those seats are stained blue. My old legend had dark interior and it did have the problem where the color/dye wore off over 200k but after that many miles I kind of expected it.

Thanks, for the heads up. Where do you get leatherique? First I've heard of it??

So the final solution was new interior. I was amazed that the protectant company went that far the the dealership service really pushed it. They felt since they represented it at the time of sale they would make sure we were happy. funny thing is they reapplied the protectent with the same promise of no staining...I guess I will just keep replacing the interior leather every two years.

If you keep wearing the type of jeans or clothing that bleeds, you certainly will keep needing a replacement. Certain leathers will absorb the stain easier than others, and there is no solution other than to replace the stained area.

I've posted this before, but a friend of mine has an upholstery shop and more than one high end car has come in with stained, and I mean stained seats that no cleaner is going to remove without affecting the quality of the leather. He's seen it on Mercedes and Lexus also. Replacement is the answer.
