Interior of car getting warm by itself
Interior of car getting warm by itself
I noticed that after driving the car for awhile (30 min+). The interior near the driver footwell and console area would get warmer.
It feels almost as if the heat coming from the engine is being routed to the cabin. Is this normal?
I also noticed that the radiator fan, sometimes stays on and doesn't cycle off.

I remember one poster saying exactly this.
and when they went to investigate, they found that some one didnt hook up something(I forgot what, happened awhile ago)
in conclusion, you might have to tear into the center console to see if everything is A1

One thing ive noticed, and not only with the TL but my previous cars as well. Even if the fan is off, while accelerating you can still feel air coming out of the air vents, and if you turned the fan off at a warmer temperature, the air will be warmer, and vice versa. Pretty sure this is normal, could explain why your feeling that your car is warming up,,,,,,

OP try turning the temp to cold and then shut off the airflow. This will close off the vents and you shouldn't have hot air coming in if you crack a window to create the flow.
I too notice if the temp control is left on high, even if the fan is off, you will still feel an ever so slight amount of warm/hot air coming out and slowly warming the car. This isn't just for the TL, but for every car.
But Spaceman might be on to something also, if someone fiddled with the interior of your car.
Also, the center console warms up because there are air vents for it in the back seat area. The warm air travels through ducts in the console and as such, warms it up also. I believe someone was wondering why their center console felt icy cold, in the past, and it was again the same thing.
As for the driver's area being warm also, it could very much be the foot vent warming up the area around it.

This may be unrelated, but I noticed when driving at highway speed with the sun roof open, I'd have a hot air "pocket" in the driver side corner between windshield and driver window. Even with the A/C on LO.
Best I can figure is some weird thermal action related to the pressure of driving the the sun roof open (windows shut). Any thermodynamic wizards have a hypothesis?

I share this car with others in my family, and the last driver left the temp at 69F !!!
Putting the temp down to the lowest setting worked.
I agree with smurfhunter that the TL seems to have warm pockets of air, even with cool weather outside. If I crack a window open, it seems to cool things down a bit.
Thanks everyone!!
