Interior aluminum door handles flaking?

for both my passenger and driver side interior door handles i can feel the aluminum coating make a crackling noise.. its as if there is a bubble now in the inside part of the handle.. anyone have issues with this where eventually the coating comes off? my car has low miles and very well maintained..

I noticed this as well on one of my rear doors. Car is also well maintained and low miles (not that miles really has anything to do with this part). The service writer where I bought the car is a real smug asshole. I haven't liked him since the first day I went in there for something. Last time I was there I cursed him out and walked out. I'm going to try my closer dealer from now on.

I have the same issue on the left passenger door. Weird how it justs happens on just that handle. I heard the problem has to deal w/ how the metal flakes are applied onto the bare metal. I forget what that process is called =/

I actually noticed the same thing a few weeks ago. I have been careful not to put much pressure on the bubbled up area. It has happened only on my drivers side door handle.

I'm not sure what to do as it seems it would be a PIA to replace.

I know people who have bought vinyl off ebay and covered these for bubbling or to just have something different...not going to say this will suit everyone (ie myself, since like the stock look) but if mine were flaking & out of warranty I would look toward recovering them.

A friend of mine had the same problem so we removed them, stripped the coating off and color matched them to the car. It looked pretty sweet when it was done. Theres my 2 cents.

that sounds like a good idea. 2 of my door handles are flaking off and i thought about ordering new ones but re-painting them might be a better option...

Dude, you shouldn't have to deal with that. I would call and ask to speak to the Dealership General Manager and report this ahole to him!

That's just ridiculous. Doesn't he know that the customer is always right.
