Inside Trunk Opening is Stuck

Hey everyone. I have a 2008 base and I cant get the interior opening to the trunk open (the opening that's covered by the arm rest). When I put my key in there, it won't turn either. And I also messed around with the trunk button in the glove box to see if it'd work. I was able to open it before until one day it was just stuck closed. Any recommended steps to get it open is much appreciated!

The arm rest folds down but the tray to open to the trunk is stuck closed.

the button in the glove box has nothing to do with the "hatch" lets call it. The only thing that can possibly be holding the hatch door closed is the key turn lock. that is what you need to resolve.

The trunk pass-through lock is keyed for the main keys, and not the valet key. If your key locks and unlocks the glove box, it should unlock the pass-through lock unless that lock is misaligned or jacked. If your key doesn't lock and unlock the glove box, it's a valet key which won't open the pass-through.

You might also be able to lube or release the pass-through lock latch from inside the trunk if the lock is broken.

That's what I think is the culprit. I didn't find any how-to's or tutorials so I'm assuming this isn't a common issue. I guess I'll look through the owner's manual to see how to take it apart.

Yep, the key I have is the 2nd driver key. I know it's not a valet key because I have been able to use the key to unlock/lock the pass-through.

I thought about that but I currently have my trunk sealed off because of my subwoofer so figured working on it from the inside of the car would be easier. But worst case scenario, I can take apart my subwoofer box for it.
