It could be a lot of things but was the AC or defroster on at the time? It should not surge anyway but that's a start. Any work performed lately, battery disconnected lately? Does it happen to surge more when you press the brakes?

Based on your Navi issue thread and this one, I suggest checking the battery and cable connections. The battery could be at the end of its life, or a cable may be loose or corroded.

G/L.

I didn't see those threads but I agree with you. From his post it sounds like it's idling at 850-900rpm most of the time with a dip to 600 once in a while. 600 is closer to what it should be, not 900rpm. Could definitely be electrical.

i had similar issues after i had to replace a bad battery...engine kept bogging down to 500ish rpms when turning on/off ac and shifting into diff gears...ended up retightening pos and neg cables and it disappeared...

I had this problem once after skipping doing the idle re-learn after I disconnected the battery while working on the car once.

How I fixed it..

Disconnect the battery again, let it sit for about 30 minutes to clear any stored settings in the ECM.

Reconnect the battery, put the key in and ensure the AC, radio, etc are all off.

Start the car, then allow it to idle on it's own for about 10 minutes. Don't turn the steering wheel, run the AC, radio or anything during that time.

Afterwards it should be good.

Make sure to have your radio codes, you'll need to re-enter them after everything is done.
