Idle issues when I turn on my A/C

Hello im a proud owner of a 2006 ac tl. Recently i have been having issues sometimes when i turn on my A/C and at a stand still for a few minutes the idle drops and then goes right back up sometimes a little higher. Has anyone else experienced these issues? Im thinking of hitting the dealer next to figure out this problem hoping it is nothing major.. Thanks in advance..

think of it as a weight and balance senario. our v6 engines have to not only move our cars, but the also have to drive accesories. every accessory takes horsepower away to operate them and an AC compressor is a big load. it has to compress a gas. when turning on the AC it takes power off of the crank, thus putting your car under load. there is no fixing this, just turn it off or deal with the loss. any car with AC does this it's not a problem.

I noticed this on an 05 I just purchased. I am 99% sure my 06 didn't do this and I know my 2012 does not even come close to doing this. While I understand the ac cycling can cause a bit of rpm change as the engine drives the compressor, this car drags down far enough the motor actually feels a little rough for a second before the rpms return back to normal. Not sure if it is an issue but definitely does not feel correct.

100-200 rpm drop is normal, mine does it too, but it doesnt feel rough or anything. maybe your motor mounts are bad

Few hundred. I would guess it probably idles around 700-800 and drops to maybe 500 and then back up. Maybe more, maybe less. I'll watch it next time and see. I honestly don't pay attention to RPMs much in new(er) cars anyway unless they are manuals. I can tell you the RPM my 70 Chevelle idles at and exactly where it shifts but couldn't tell you where the Tach even begins to redline in either of my Acuras.

Just had front & side motor mounts replaced so that can easily be ruled out.

The A/C cycling is normal... it's normal to feel the idle dropping.
