How to remove rear quarter window?

I just got my TL's windows tinted the other week and the tinter, who did a great job, was up front and honest about not being able to do the full rear quarter window under the rubber seal.

I don't have a lot of other tint options in the area, nor have the time to take it out of town. I know that if I can take those two small windows out and take it back to him, he'd tint them both fully in a heartbeat.

Problem is...I don't see how they come out. I removed the rear inner panel when I installed my moleskin, and I don't see how they come out. The inner door frame seems to block everything and that window, which obviously doesn't roll up or down, seems a tight sealed fit.

I know it can be done as I've seen others mention it can be removed, but looking for some instructions.

Thanks...and please no comments on the tinter's lack of ability or laziness...he was honest about it and otherwise did a fantastic job.

Very good question! But I have no idea. I have yet to ask my tint shop if they will redo mine. I don't understand why this is such a big deal about getting under the rubber seal. I've messed with vinyl for years and tint, in theory, is applied in the same manner. I don't see why the tinter can't push the squeegee under the rubber seal to finish out the tint.

I would not take out the window, not worth risking leaking if you don't seal it properly.

Take off all of the rubber moldings and pieces around the window and bring your car to him. Just remember how you took the pieces off so you can put them back on.

PM Roger555, he will tell you how to remove the window. He had a thread about tinting his windows, and removed all 6 of the door windows, to tint them. He actually said it was quite easy. I tried searching for the thread about it, but had no luck finding it. Good luck, let us know how it works out.

You obviously didn't read my post where I said there are no other tinters around me and I don't want to waste hours going to one in another town and deal with trouble.

If those windows can come out easily, which is what I was led to believe, this will be the best solution. I just need to figure out how to do it.

I did read it.

for the time that it will take you to take out those windows, it will be quicker, cheaper and easier to just drive to another tinter.

If you know how long it takes to take them out, please share with me. I can get the inner door panel off in less than 5 minutes, and I was told there is only one or two bolts holding the window in...I just need to know how to go about doing it.

Unless it takes 3 hours+ to get these things out, which I highly doubt, it'll be much easier and quicker for me to take them 3 miles away to my local tinter instead of scheduling a new appointment with an unknown business in another town an hour away.

As for cheaper...I know my guy would do it for free...whereas taking to a new person would cost $$$.

Appreciate the advice, but I'm still looking for info on how to get these out. If it does turn out to be a huge PITA, I will consider the alternative.

tell him to lube up the tint really well and try to pull back the seal a bit to help alleviate some of the friction. I watched my tinter do it with ease. I dont even think he pulled back on the seal. you dont have to take out the windows to do this. I doubt there is a DIY on this, if youre stuck on the idea, maybe try to find a TL manual.

Ok...I found the post from Roger555 which shows that he took them out. I'll shoot him a PM and hopefully get some ideas/direction.

I replaced a broken rear-quarter window in less than an hour with the help of this thread:

https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-2004-2008-93/front-rear-door-panel-handles-wstrip-glass-window-regulator-removal-3g-garage-f-016-a-603296/

I could probably do it in less than a half-hour next time (but hope I never find out).

Replacement glass was only $45 on eBay.
