Hesitated start's for 04 TL

Hi,
- I have an 04 tl with 37K miles. Last 2-4 days, the car does not start on the first attempt (tries for 2 seconds). But it surely starts on the 2nd try without a problem. I am hoping I just got a bad tank fo gas which is causing this. Is there anything such as a dirty oxygen sensor or spark plugs that can cause this? The battery seems fine. Have'nt had to jump it yet (crossing my fingers).

- If I take it to the dealer, will they complain about the cold air intake i have?
Thanks for any suggestions/help.

the first thing they would do is point to the intake, but due the the moss act, they have to prove that the cai did cause the hestant start.

You don't understand the Magnussen/Moss Act. That is NOT what it says. The CAI modifies the car. The Act deals with replacement parts. Two totally different animals. Believe me....as a Cobra owner, we know this Act upside down. Our Cobras are the most modified cars ever built. We know just exactly where we stand and that is if we mod, we pay. The warranty is gone. Ford has won this battle many, many times. So be careful...

But, if we mod the engine, they can't deny warranty for the windows, etc. The drivetrain warranty is gone though.

Back to the original issue...when is the last time you changed your fuel filter?

I have never changed the fuel filter. can it be done at home? what should it cost to get it done at a juffy lube or something?
thanks.

soory for the act info i posted, i must have misunderstood it. Anyway, it could be a dying battery or maybe it is just the ULEV system that the car has. The ULEV system keeps the emmisions low when starting it.

Don't take it to a dealer, we all have this time to time, this happens because our cars indeed are ultra low emmission vehicles meaning they have to start and run as environmentally clean as possible. All ULEV cars in my experience sometimes hesitated to start the first time around, it's an emmissions quirk you have to learn to live with.

Hey guy's,

So far, I have chnged 3 of the 6 spark plugs, add a bottle of fuel cleaner and a bottle of gas treatment with a full tank of amoco prem. This morning, I did see some improvement. It took about 2 seconds to start but it DID start on the first try. I think i just a really bad tank of gas.

Next update in 2-5 days.. c ya.
