Hesitant shifting after recent rebuilt transmission
First off I did use the search but was unable to find anything related to my situation.
At around 85k miles I was dealing with a slipping tranny and ended up having to get it rebuilt. It cost 1800$ from a family owned business, 1year warranty.
After asking him about his recommended maintenance of the tranny he told me I don't need to worry about changing the tranny fluid.
The other thing is he didn't use any recommended honda fluid.
Now im at 87k miles and im starting to feel a very slight jerk from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd
Should I do a 3x3 drain? Would that possibly help even if its been 2k miles from the rebuild.
Also, should i have did a 3x3 once he was done with the rebuild and replaced the fluid with a honda certified?
thanks

im planning on doing just a drain and fill once every week for 3 weeks, only problem is im alittle worried about mixing the fluid in there with dw1, would you see any problem doing so?

The Honda fluid is crap and is the reason for all the failures anyway. I don't understand how you got the transmission rebuilt but he didn't change the fluid? Or do you mean he changed the fluid and told you not to worry about changing it yourself?

Also, where do you live? From my experience and what I've heard from others, TLs and Hondas in generally don't have smooth shifts. I have decent shifts with medium throttle but rough shifts with light or heavy throttle. Cold weather is going to make the shifts more rough. Do you live in a cold Climate?

I'm in Toronto, Ontario. I am starting to think this is just because of the cold though.. It has been acting up ever since the temperature dropped to like 10deg cel.

Yeah I'm no expert and I haven't driven any other Hondas besides my TL but from what I've been told and how my car acts, they just aren't smooth shifting cars. The guy I had do my timing belt who has owned his independent Honda shop for 30 years told me Honda makes the best, most reliable cars but they just can't make a great transmission.
If it starts slipping gears I'd worry, but a slight rough shift is probably just from the cold.
And mixing fluid doesn't matter one bit. From what I've heard from the experts on here and actually the guy I mentioned above who owns the Honda shop, the Honda fluid is bad for the transmission and probably causes the failures. Honda just wants to make extra money off the fluid and I bet they make money off of having a shitty product that causes failures. I've always been a conspiracy theorist though...

United transmission up on haines rd in sauga. There rebuild estimate was less than half of other shops and offered a better warranty, so i went with them
