Help please... TPS sensor, App sensor?
Help please... TPS sensor, App sensor?
Hey guys I have a 2006 Acura TL manual transmission. I recently started experiencing problems well coming back from Raleigh and cruise control, we were brought to a halt by an accident and then when I began to start accelerating and shifting up I could not get the car to accelerate and then when I depressed the accelerator it started sputtering... once getting it to the gas station turning it off and letting it cool down it seemed to do just fine until the next day when this happened again but not in cruise control. The car will start and run and idle just fine and when cold started will drive okay.it seems as though as soon as it hits operating temperature it begins to not idle correctly and the accelerator pedal is completely non-responsive. Once first started it revs and runs great... After doing some research I am almost convinced that it is the TPS sensor or app sensor I was going to order a new one and replace it but just wanted to check if anyone else has had these problems or if it could be anything else such as throttle body problems... Once this occurred I did clean the throttle body with carb cleaner and a toothbrush and wiped it all clean... Did help the car run smoother but did not contribute to fixing the problem. I have not shown any codes from the diagnostics meter I have and there are no lights on, ex. Check engine VSA , and have not come on the entire time when it is miss idling and sputtering... Any help or advice would be appreciated... Thanks
Not clear from your post if cruise control works normal or has issues? If the cruise works fine and you can accelerate and such, then TPS is my first guess at the culprit. If cruise also has issues, then something else.
I am not sure if TPS has historically caused issues with idle.

Thank you for the reply, the cruise was and is working fine as far as I can tell.. I just put that in my last post to explain how it all started... With no codes being thrown, it leads me to TPS but I just can't be sure... I guess the next step is replacing the sensor.. any thoughts and advice on if I should just change the sensor, or the whole throttle cable assembly with the sensor on it?
I will check that in the morning and get back to you, but I haven't even been able to get it up to speed to use it unless the motor is cold and then it works fine till it warms up but I will check and report asap...thanks

I used the EOBD 2 SCANNER and have had a mechanic do a diagnostic and no light or codes for either... I've ordered the TPS SENSOR,from rockauto and will see what happens after the replacement and get back to the thread and report if the problem continues... Thank you all for the help.... I'm a new member to this site and love the help...
If cruise isn't functional...good chance TPS is not the culprit. But without any codes or other symptoms....this will be a tough one. Rarely do you need to replace the entire cable assembly. It is usually the sensor itself that gets moody and just needs to be swapped out.
Bad news!!!
Okay guys so after putting in the new throttle cable assembly and TPS sensor, I got my car running and up to temperature and took off and drive at least three to four good miles and back to my house no faults no problems no lights....I shut it down and let it cool for about two and a half hours thinking the problem was covered, I went ahead and plug in the diagnostics to check it out and whilst doing so it read a code a vs a non-responsive after fifty kilometers per hour or 30 miles per hour... Everything else checked out absolutely fine.... So my question is should I try and reset this code or is there something else I need to fix and diagnose with the VSA because now the triangle light with! Is on and it's back to same issuesish... but tightening the throttle cable really did help my pedal response and throttle response... Any ideas or thoughts?
